We are very careful about where our silk fabrics come from. This is REALLY IMPORTANT to us! We do not support overseas mills and factory working conditions. Our silk fabrics are NOT made in China! We use the one and only US based company for the milling and dying of our silks. Rest assured that your purchase from our shop goes to support local US economies and fair labor laws!


SILK BUYING TIPS:

I am often asked how to tell what quality silk is, as a general rule of thumb, when it comes to choosing silk, BUYER BEWARE, LOW PRICES, DISCOUNTS and CONSTANT SALES are often the giveaway, even if claiming volume and wholesale bolt discounts!!! If it is too good to be true, it is.

If shops claim to always need 2-3 weeks to create an item, they are most likely ordering it from another company.

There is no such thing as AA grade silk like some shops out there claim to carry. This is a marketing ploy to make you think you are buying nice silk. Grade A is the highest and only recognized industry standard when referring to silk.

Low weight silk is often bought at low prices and then marketed as a higher weight. Sadly,the buyer often never knows--it is silky, soft, pretty and lustrous but will not have the longevity or durability of a higher weight silk! This is a common practice and one you will NOT find here in our shop. We sell only premium quality silk--other shops copy but they do not compare!

Silk is measured by weight and never thread count. For example 19mm= 19lbs in 45" x 100 yards of silk fabric (not meters). Silk fibers are so very fine that even poor quality silk fabrics will have a high thread count. A high thread count has nothing to do with the quality of the silk fiber.
